Universal Languages Transcend Barriers
I am excited to say that my TED talk has just been published on YouTube on the TEDx talks page! For years, I have been listening to TED and TEDx talks and found myself wondering what I could say of value, what "ideas worth spreading" a soft-spoken sixteen year old girl could offer. However, after being given the opportunity to live with a host family in China and reflecting on the meaningful linguistic-related moments in my life, I felt imbued with a greater understanding of the world around me and of the words spoken, unspoken, or simply expressed by other means.
Additionally, I definitely recommend checking out NPR TED Radio Hour; I love listening to Guy Raz while I run because I simultaneously learn about the paths others have taken, the experiences others have had, and the intriguing things others do from building useless machines to giving individuals with disabilities unique voices for their computers. If you have a moment or if you're curious, I recommend checking out the other TEDxNCSSM talks on the TEDxNCSSM event page under "Additional links" as well.
