Heading to Chengdu?
Today we’re heading to Chengdu, or so I thought. In the morning, we had another delicious breakfast and more orientating. For lunch we had Chinese Pizza Hut (globalization again). I think they’re trying to appeal to the teenage crowd with the fast food options. I’d much rather eat a bean burger, but that’s just my opinion. We were supposed to leave around 3:30 pm for Chengdu, but due to the copious amounts of rain, our flight was cancelled. While waiting for news about a new flight, I jump roped for 30 minutes. I got quite a few stares, but it was worth it. If your an athlete or want to stay in shape, a jump rope is a great source of exercise to bring along when traveling. Our new flight was scheduled for 9:30 pm, so after my jump roping session, a large group of us set out to find some food. I didn’t have any Chinese money (RMB/yuan) with me at the time, so I went to find an ATM at the airport. Before leaving, my dad gave me his debit card from the Bank of China, but considering he hadn’t used it for 10 years, he didn’t know if there was any money in the account. Luckily for me, there was an ATM, and the green Bank of China debit card with a bull on it worked! With some RMB in hand, we went to a small Chinese restaurant in the Beijing airport. I must say, that was the best airport food I’ve ever had. I ordered a tall glass of warm milk and two cold dishes, one of spinach doused in garlic and one of tofu skins, carrots, and celery. However, while I was in the process of enjoying my glass of warm milk, another group came up and informed us that our new flight was cancelled, so we headed to the Auylmpic Airport Hotel. I cashed out for the night on a hard mattress with purple sheets.
