Floral Patterns and Lotus Blossoms
Here are some beautiful lotus blossoms we saw.
This is a picture of a lotus flower I was given as a gift and all the other floral patterns I wore.
My host family and I at the field of lotus flowers. 吴璨 isn’t in the picture because she had class.
First Saturday in China! Since I didn’t have class today, my host family took me to a place with lots of lotus flowers. Sadly my host sister had class today, so she didn’t come with us. After I ran with my host dad in the neighborhood, my host parents and I headed to see the lotus blossoms. When we arrived we met up with four other host families: the families of Martin, Annette, Chandler, and Julia. There was a path that ran through the field of lotus flowers. We walked through as a group and took tons of pictures along the way (as you can see above). Afterwards we went to a restaurant directly across from the lotus garden for lunch. My host family purchased a small watermelon and peanuts, and another family purchased some plums. After waiting for an hour or so on the porch of the restaurant, we moved inside for the real meal. There was a big bowl of rice, various vegetables, lotus root, fish, beef, and pork. Stuffed and tired, we moved back to the porch for a while. Two hours later, we piled into our cars and headed to the restaurant owned by Chandler’s host family. We rested again for another while, and then we ate more food because it doesn’t seem like we ever eat. I took a liking to the shrimp, so Chandler’s host mom de-shelled almost a whole plate for me. Full and tired once again, we headed to Experimental School of Suangliu Middle School to pick up 吴璨, and then we headed home, where I hit the hay.
